Senny Liberty, welsh mountain pony 5 yrs old, demonstrating the wonderful temperament of this breed whilst being ridden by his new owner 7 year old Patricia Fraguas of Barcelona. Libby was Patricia's birthday present from her family, who are a very competitive family and who were in fact 2nd to Nefydd Buccaneer in the Spanish pony championships this year.

It is hoped that Patricia and Libby will be competing at next years championships on 3 day eventing.

02/07/2001 - Success for Ribble Valley Stud at Spanish Pony Championships

Neffydd Buccaneer, junior stallion , sec B, after successfully campaigning the Spanish dressage circuit, has emerged Spanish pony champion in this discipline in the Spanish Pony Championships. His 10 year old rider Arturo Alvarez Pou, pulled out all the stops and gave an almost foot perfect test on each of the three days they competed. The two of them together are a real team. Our thanks go to all concerned at C.A.V.A., one of Spain's leading equestrian centres, for producing Buccaneer to such a high standard.

Additionally, Buccaneer was also a member of the gold medal dressage team representing Catalunia, along with the ponies, welsh part-bred, Irving Berlin and the pony Papa Chico.

He will be available to a limited number of mares early next year, when he returns home to Alicante for a short time to cover his mares here at Ribblevalley. Special concessions to dressage mares, Arabs and P.R.E. mares. Buccaneer is quite capable of covering taller mares and we are looking forward at sometime in the future to seeing the first P..R.E. X Welsh pony. What a combination.

Soon to arrive in Spain to join Derwen Grande Finale the Black welsh cob stallion, Derwen Queen of the Sun, in foal to champion Derwen Quartz. This delightful 5 year old, liver chestnut mare has outstanding action and after the birth of her foal is destined for a career in top class dressage, after which she will come home to Ribble Valley Stud to resume duties as a brood mare.

Also arriving in the same shipment is the half brother of Nefydd Buccaneer, Nefydd Samson. Sam is only a yearling and we hope to do the same with him as we have done with Buccaneer. He is almost identical to Buccaneer.

From the 24th to the 27th of June Nefydd Buccaneer is competing in Badahoz in the Spanish Dressage Championships. Fingers crossed!!!!!!!
